Catalogue check

Drop in a product export from your shop, a supplier file or a feed, and see the data problems that cost listings and sales, weighed for where the data goes: Google Shopping, marketplaces or your own shop. Your file is read in your browser and never uploaded.

Your file

or drop it here

CSV or TSV with a header row, as exported by Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, a supplier or a feed tool. Up to 10 MB and 20,000 rows; save Excel files as CSV first.

Your file stays on your computer: it's read in this browser tab, never uploaded or stored.

7 of 9 rows have a problem to fix before Google Shopping.

    Titles in capitals 2 cases

Google counts excessive capitalisation as a breach of its editorial rules, and shoppers read it as shouting.

Barcodes from restricted or coupon ranges 1 case

Numbers starting with 2, 02 or 04 are for in-store and internal use, and 05, 98 and 99 for coupons. They aren't product barcodes, and Google doesn't accept them.

Barcodes turned into scientific notation 1 case

A spreadsheet read the barcode as a number and saved it as 9.52123E+12. The last digits are gone and have to come from the supplier again.

Prices that are zero or unreadable 1 case

A zero, a negative number or text in the price column: the product is rejected, or offered for nothing.

Rows without a description 1 case

Google requires a description, and on every channel it's what shoppers read and what search matches.

The same SKU on several rows 1 case

Channels keep one row and drop or overwrite the others, and a sync updates the wrong variant.

One barcode on different products 1 case

Channels match listings by barcode, so one product can be shown as the other.

Rows without a brand 2 cases

Google expects a brand on most new products and limits those without one; marketplaces need it to list a product at all.

Rows without a barcode 1 case

No GTIN, EAN or UPC, and no brand with a manufacturer part number to fall back on. Google may limit products that have a barcode but don't send it, and most marketplaces ask for one to list a product.

One option written several ways 3 cases

M and Medium, Gray and Grey: filters and variant pickers treat them as different values, so shoppers miss products.

Image links on http, not https 1 case

Secure pages may not show them: browsers block or upgrade insecure images, and the image fails if its server has no https.

Rows without a category or product type 1 case

Channels use it to place the product and to ask for the right attributes, and your shop's menus and filters rely on it.

Not checked, no matching column: Availability. If your file has one, pick it under Columns below.

Every finding, row by row, for whoever fixes the data.

Columns: 9 of 11 fields matched. Check or change them

Each field is read from the column chosen below, recognised from common export headers in English, French and Hungarian. Change any that are wrong; the report updates at once.

Groups variant rows, so they take the product's title, description and image: Shopify's Handle, Google's item_group_id.

What it shows

The check every import, sync and feed should run

  • A file read in the browser, never uploaded: exports from Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop or a supplier, with columns recognised in English, French and Hungarian.
  • Variant rows understood: sizes and colours take the product's title and image, as they do in the shop.
  • One finding, three verdicts: a missing barcode is a must for marketplaces, a visibility cost on Google and a detail in your own shop.
  • The problems people miss: check digits that don't add up, barcodes a spreadsheet turned into 9.52123E+12, one barcode on two products, M and Medium in the same option.
  • A list to work through: every finding by row, as CSV.

The demo checks one file. The free check looks at your live shop or catalogue: 3 to 5 concrete findings in writing, with where each one starts (the supplier file, the import, the sync or the feed). Built into your import or sync, the same checks run on every update and hold bad rows back before a channel sees them.
